EVO Ecology was set up in 2015 by Dr Simon Pickett. Based in Northern Ireland, we provide ecological consultancy services across a wide range of disciplines. Our aim is to provide exemplary standards of service for our clients, which we achieve using our broad base of expertise in academic research, planning and development and the community services sector.

Dr Simon Pickett BSc. Hons, MSc., PhD. MCIEEM
Simon has 19 years of ecological survey and research experience specialising in avian evolution, conservation, spatial ecology and animal behaviour. He has particular expertise in spatial analysis, GIS and statistical modelling and has published research on bird conservation in the UK using large national data sets. His career includes research with the University of Exeter, The Game Conservancy Trust and the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO). More recently he has worked as a Scientific Officer with the Development Management Team in the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA), assessing planning applications and providing advice to the Planning Service on Natural Heritage issues, assessing wildlife reports/refining survey protocols and providing advice on ornithological issues. Between 2016 and 2018 Simon was the volunteer coordinator for the Bat Conservation Ireland “BATLAS” scheme and currently volunteers for the Northern Ireland Bat Group and Northern Ireland Badger group.
